Joe Robertson attended the Child of Wight Awards at Tapnell Farm.
The Child of Wight Awards 2024 crowned the Islands young heroes. The Isle of Wight Radio and Wightfibre sponsored the event and it was the third consecutive year of running. The awards were fronted by Breakfast Show hosts Paul Topping.
The StarLight Academy gave a performance in the evening and all the nominees were given a chance to partake in a range of activities.
The overall Winner went to:
Reuben and Arlo Brimson, who both showed bravery when Arlo had chemotherapy to remove a tumour in his eye, and older brother Reuben was extremely supportive throughout.
Joe Robertson, presented the Young Carer Award, which was awarded to Gracie Mia Langford.
Gracie, a 12 year-old girl has been helping her mother for the past year as a carer for her grandmother - always showing compassion and kindness through the difficult time.
Gracie's mum said, "Gracie had given up part of her childhood, and I'd love for someone other than me to recognise what a beautiful act this was."
Joe Robertson said, "Many congratulations to the winners with their inspiring individual stories of courage. There are some incredible young people on the Island and I am particularly inspired by Gracie's story as a young carer, something I am passionate about supporting in my time in Parliament."
After the ceremony, all the winners had a group photo and socialised with their proud parents.
