Last week Joe Robertson, East Wight MP, met with the CEO of Hovertravel, Neil Chapman whereby they discussed the challenges and opportunities including health travel.
Hovertravel provides the fastest Isle of Wight ferry route across the Solent from Portsmouth to the Isle of Wight and is the world’s only year-round passenger hovercraft service. The passenger hovercraft service takes passengers directly to the shore at Southsea or Ryde in just 10 minutes. Hovertravel have also introduced discounted NHS patient fares, which are available for patients and a plus one travelling from Ryde to Southsea for an NHS appointment.
Before being elected, Joe worked for Dementia UK and worked alongside Hovertravel to improve patient and service user experience.
Joe said, "From my time working for Dementia UK I know that Hovertravel have been prepared to listen and adapt and have been proactive in the past to improve user experience. I look forward to working with them in the future to tackle patient care which is affected by the Cross Solent Transport."
