Joe Robertson met with ITV Meridian's Derek Johnson, whereby he was interviewed on camera on how he is pushing for ferries to be considered in the Railway Bills being introduced later this year.
In the first two weeks of becoming an MP, Joe Robertson wrote to the Secretary of State for Transport, Louise Haig and subsequently met with her in person to discuss the issue of cross Solent transport and ferry prices. Joe Robertson pressed for the case for intervention to ensure companies are not able to profit from a lifeline service.
Joe has also met with cross party MPs through the APPG for Hospitality and Tourism and discussed the issue of ferries and how they have provided a problem for tourism.
Joe Robertson MP said the issue has now 'come to a head'.
"So it was one of the biggest issues on the doorstep during the general election," he said. "And as an islander and someone who grew up here and spent my whole adult life here, I've seen for myself how the ferries have got more expensive, less reliable, and the timetables have been thinned down.
"And it's fairly obvious to me that it's come to a head, and islanders deserve and are requiring action."
