Joe Robertson MP, alongside Cllr Karen Lucioni, met with residents of Ryde Monktonmead who were affected by last winter's severe flooding. During the meeting, Robertson expressed his deep concern over the failure of the flood defence system and emphasised that such failures cannot be allowed to happen again.
"The failure of the flood defence system cannot happen again and lessons must be learnt," said Robertson. He criticised the Section 19 flood report for taking too long and providing little new information. "The report took too long and said very little new," he added.
Robertson also highlighted the ongoing delay from the Environment Agency, which has yet to provide their report on the flooding incident. "The Environment Agency still haven't reported," he noted, stressing the need for timely and comprehensive responses to prevent future incidents."
